From Bridge to Beam

This renovation brings two older dwellings together to create a single, open plan home that celebrates local history and solid workmanship. The hero material is reclaimed hardwood from the old Woolomin bridge. Our team hand selected the best timbers, removed decades of grit, and dressed them back to reveal the grain and character worth keeping.

To carry the weight of the new beams, we opened the existing floor and dug new piers for proper support. The ceiling and roof were removed, then the structural members were craned into position with millimetre accuracy. We replaced the entire roof and carefully tied the new roof line into the existing dwelling, resolving a tricky geometry so the join reads clean and the house stays watertight.

The result is a single connected living zone with exposed hardwood that tells a story. You get warmth, volume, and better natural light, backed by the structure to last. It is a respectful update that keeps the spirit of the place while giving the family the flow they need day to day.
