The Part Nobody Warns You About

Before the build,
the paperwork.

Most renovations in NSW need formal approval before work can legally begin. Plans, certificates, engineering, certifiers, contributions. Each with its own portal, and its own way of stalling a project by weeks.

Now you can hand all of it to us. Approvals management is KRJ's new add-on service. We prepare, lodge and manage every approval for your renovation, alongside the build itself.

Your Part

About ten minutes.

01

Sign the consent forms. Every registered owner on the title, and we'll tell you who.

02

Pay the council contributions invoice, if one applies. It arrives in your name, explained by us before it lands.

That's it.

Common Questions

Approvals, answered.

Do I need council approval for my renovation?

Almost all extensions and structural renovations do, and many kitchen and bathroom projects touch approvals through plumbing and drainage. We confirm exactly what yours needs at your consultation.

What's the difference between a CDC and a DA?

A Complying Development Certificate is a faster approval for projects that meet standard state rules, typically around 20 days. A Development Application goes through full council assessment and takes longer. Most of our renovations fit the CDC pathway.

I'm on acreage. Does that change things?

Usually. Rural properties often need a separate approval for on-site wastewater and drainage, with soil testing and a system designed for your block. We manage this routinely and start it early.

Who pays the council fees?

Contribution invoices are issued in the property owner's name and paid by you directly to council. We request the invoice, explain what it covers, and tell you when it's due.

Do I have to deal with the NSW Planning Portal?

No. We prepare and lodge everything. Your involvement is signing the forms we put in front of you.

Is this included in my renovation?

Approvals management is a new optional service you can add to your KRJ renovation. We'll take you through it at your consultation.

Can KRJ manage approvals if someone else is building?

No. We only manage approvals for renovations we build.
